The University of St Andrews is investigating allegations of rape made by one of its students against her faculty adviser, the university has said.
The student alleges that she was raped by one of her professors in 2016, a court in Edinburgh heard on Thursday.
The university said that it did not comment on cases under investigation.
The alleged victim is a postgraduate student at St Andrews, one of Scotland's oldest universities.
She is due to give evidence to the jury at the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday, following a two-week trial in which her professor, 40-year-old Ulf Sayegh, denies raping and attempting to rape her.
She alleges that he attacked her in a lift at the university's St Salvator's Hall after a party in August 2016.
The alleged victim is one of two women who have made similar allegations against Mr Sayegh.
The first, who is not being named for legal reasons, claims that she was also attacked by the professor after attending a party at the university in May 2015.
She was 18 at the time.
Mr Sayegh has denied the charges and said that any alleged behaviour would be "unimaginable" to him and that the alleged victim, who is now 22, had consented to "both kissing and intercourse".

He said he considered the current complainant to be "mentally disturbed" and claimed that she was being unfairly "singled out" as part of a campaign to get back at him.
